Due to the current challenging market situation impacting port activities, generating congestion and schedule delays across the supply chain, The USA is experiencing extreme capacity issues creating port and terminal congestion, a lack of railcars, and the unavailability of truckers and chassis. This situation impacts the entire shipping industry, and is not limited to DHL and is therefore outside DHL’s reasonable control. This may result in demurrage/storage at ports/terminals and detention fees for majority of the shipments.  Should these costs be incurred, they will be passed onto the customer after making all reasonable efforts to mitigate them.

For many consecutive months the US has been importing record numbers of shipments which has resulted in congestion all along the supply chain. The congestion continues to generate delays at ports and all modes of final mile services. Throughout this time period DHL has been entirely transparent with its customers in explaining how market conditions have affected our brokerage services. We have not been immune to the staffing shortages that are widely reported across most industries. However, many things are not within our control and lingering market conditions continue to slow Customs entry processing.  We understand the inconvenience this may cause but there is no gross negligence demonstrated in our effort to manage your Customs entries. Consequently DHL cannot accept any liability for any storage or demurrage charges. We will remain fully committed to serving our customers in these difficult times and appreciate your continued patronage.
